One of our all-time favourite movies is Band Baaja Baaraat, and ewe have seen it probably a zillion times by now, and can watch it even more, Bread Pakode ki kasam! The cord that the characters struck with the viewers, was amazing. The movie gave rise to a star, someone who came from the lanes of being a nobody, and swept everyone with his carefree, boy-next-door vibe. Yes, we are talking about the birthday boy, Ranveer Singh here, who was forayed into Bollywood, and straight into our hearts, with his amicable Bittoo Sharma.
Unusual looks, shabby hair, and a swag which is omnipresent with him, here is one amazing transformation. Ladies and gentlemen, here’s Ranveer Singh, for you, as we bring to you a timeline of his metamorphosis, quite literally!
1. Band Baaja Baaraat (2010)
Bittoo’s journey from gatecrashing a wedding to getting into the wedding planning “Binness”, the movie was a hit and so were Bittoo and Shruti. Amidst all the speculations of the fat pay cheque that Ranveer’s father paid to YRF, Ranveer silenced all his critics with his brilliant performance. *Ainvayi Ainvayi lutt gaya*
2. Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011)
Another collaboration with YRF, starring Ranveer in the lead! The movie did not fare well, but we saw Ranveer in a glam avatar and a little bulked up. Little did we know that this was just the beginning of all the madness that he was going to generate around him. *Aadat se Majboor*
3. Lootera (2013)
Again, the movie wasn’t praised much. But, Ranveer’s acting prowess were! What we, as an audience saw was maturity in Ranveer Singh, not only physically, but in his skills as well.
4. Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram—Leela (2013)
Ram Rajari is one character that made Ranveer Singh a national heartthrob. Other than his acting, the talk of the town was his pairing with Deepika Padukone, and why wouldn’t it be? Don’t they just look like the best couple ever? *Dhishkyaon Ishqyaon*
5. Gunday (2014)
With Gunday, we got to see the power house of energy that Ranveer is. And of course, his bromance with Arjun Kapoor. *Jashn-e-Ishqa*
6. Kill Dil (2014)
This was one of the biggest flops of Ranveer’s career. The critics slammed the movie by asking the audiences to watch the movie only if they had time to kill. But, you just can’t ignore the song ‘Sajde’.
7. Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)
A multi-starrer with one combination of the best stars, I so love the casting of this movie! And here is where Ranveer redefined his image. His effortless acting of a doting son, lover, brother won many hearts. Needless to mention, the power of the powerhouse was much higher now.
8. Bajirao Mastani (2015)
Bajirao ne mastani se mohabbat ki hai, ayyashi nahi!! Such is the impact of his performance, that months after the release of the movie, his portrayal of a mad king stays with us. This was one of the most stellar performances of his career. And of course, the pairing with Deepika Padukone.
Ranveer Singh is one adorable person. On the basis of his hard work, dedication, talent and energy, he has come a really long way. His journey from somebody who was overlooked, to somebody who can make ladies go gaga over him has been a real game changer for him. His sex appeal, his charm, his attitude, everything is on point.
So, as we eagerly await his next outing Befikre, we can’t help but just think how is he gonna surprise us again.
