Shahid Kapoor started off as Bollywood’s quintessential chocolate boy, seen more like a simple guy-next-door, cute dimpled guy who just wanted to be in good books of everybody, having a good life. He had a perfect smile and oodles of boyish charm which works perfectly well for a Bollywood romantic hero. But, his talent and passion has not only led to his growth as an actor but also a change in his overall personality. He has managed to come out of that sweet boy image and definitely gave us a proof of his versatility as an actor and an image of a fully mature grown man.
And now, he has bowled us over with his killing looks as Tommy Singh in his latest outing ‘Udta Punjab’. From Rajiv of Ishk Vishk to Tommy Singh of Udta Punjab, Shahid has come a long long way.
Let’s look at his amazing transformation from a cute lover boy to one of the best actors in Bollywood.
Ishq Vishq, back in 2003, saw him play the character of a sweet and simple college going kid, who just like everybody else wishes to be known by all.
The youth factor is clearly evident in his character, from his diction to his body language in the movie. He clearly had no idea what was coming!
In the movie Vivah he was seen as a simple family person, portraying the image of a traditional Indian Boy.
And, we all know how Sooraj Barjataya’s movies are.
Probably, a landmark film for Shahid Kapoor was Jab we met. The movie was highly applauded and got him a Filmfare Nomination for the Best Actor.
However, it was Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey that changed his image completely. He turned from a chocolate boy to a muscle-bound behemoth.
Other than his physical transformation his stellar performance also became the talk of the town. Shahid lived up to the expectations of the director as well as the audiences.
In between he did movies like Mausam and R. Rajkumar which failed to impress the audiences. Nevertheless, it was evident he could pull of diverse characters with much ease.
In the year 2014, we saw Shahid in what we would call his best acting till date. You remember that scene – Mike testing. 1.2.3. Need we say more.
A great piece of art. Indeed!
Though, the movie Shandaar didn’t work well at the box office. But, by then we knew of Shahid’s capabilities and were just waiting for the right time.
And then Udta Punjab happened. He plays a badass rockstar from the hinterlands of Punjab called Tommy Singh aka Gabru!
He has worked a lot on his hot bod and his efforts are clearly visible from the posters and trailers we’ve seen. As far as his acting is concerned, we still don’t know, owing to huge advance bookings, but why don’t you go check for yourself.
